FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WAXING?

Waxing pulls the hair directly from the root of the follicle. This leaves your skin extremely smooth with no stubble for an extended period of time. Unlike shaving, it will take your hair a couple weeks to start growing back. Over time with regular wax services you will notice your hair becoming much softer in texture and sparse in growth. Fine and sparse texture also means less pain during the service.

PRE WAX SERVICE PREP

For any wax service you need to grow your hair for a full 10 days! This is especially true for body hair removal from the chest down. If you have shaved or trimmed within 10 days of your service you won't get the best waxing results because your hair will be too short and/or uneven lengths. The wax needs enough hair to grip. If there isn't enough hair or it is different lengths the service may be more painful and you won't leave with the smoothest result, which is the whole point of waxing.

POST WAX SERVICE CARE

No heat, sweat, or friction for the first 24 hours. Don't exercise or do any activity that may cause sweating. Keep your skin as cool and dry as possible. Don't wear tight clothes or rough textured underwear such as lace after a Brazilian/bikini wax. Sexual activity isn't recommended the same day as your wax service for the bikini area. You can get back to normal activities after 24 hours.

WHAT ABOUT INGROWNS AND IRRITATION?

Some irritation and skin tenderness is normal immediately following a wax service. You can use OTC anti inflammatory medications and ice if necessary to help calm the skin. Following the first 24 hour guidelines should prevent any additional irritation or breakouts. It is recommended to exfoliate the waxed area several times a week beginning 3 days after your service. Exfoliating regularly and using products specifically designed for razor bumps and ingrown prevention are key to clear soft skin. Always contact your service provider with any skin concerns following a wax service.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET WAXED?

You will need to keep up your waxing services with absolutely NO SHAVING between services. Face waxing may need to be done anywhere from every 2-4 weeks. Bikini/Brazilian waxing every 4-6 weeks with 4 being the most ideal time frame. Other body hair services such as legs or arms will fall into the 4-6 week category. Underarms will be a more frequent service needed about every 2 weeks. Keep in mind, everyone is different and you may fall under a different waxing timeline. Your service provider will help you navigate your specific waxing needs.

HOW BAD DOES WAXING HURT?

Of course the pain level will be different for each person. Factors such as the amount of hair present, hair texture, and your individual pain threshold will come into play. It's best to set your mind knowing waxing is painful, but tolerable. I also go out of my way to make each waxing service as comfortable as possible. I use hard wax to cater to sensitive skin and sensitive areas.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BRAZILIAN WAX AND A BIKINI WAX?

A basic bikini wax will remove the hair along the bikini line so nothing shows when wearing a swim suit. A Brazilian wax will completely remove all hair from the bikini area and backside. There are also options available to leave as much or as little hair as you want.
